Second Update: Delay of mail delivery to Canada due to strike action

September 29, 2025

This is an update of our previous notification on May 26, 2025, regarding the strike by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). According to a notification from Canada Post, in response to the Canadian Government’s recommendations for reforming Canada Post, CUPW extended its strike action to a nation-wide strike effective immediately from September 25, local time in Canada.

Consequently, mail dispatches to Canada have been postponed. It would therefore be appreciated if you could refrain from sending mail to Canada for the time being.

Should the strike in Canada be prolonged, please kindly understand that delays will be experienced in the delivery of all types of mail (EMS, airmail and surface mail) sent to Canada or we may be forced to return mail to the senders.

If you wish to withdraw mail that you have already posted, you may do so prior to the completion of dispatch preparations at our International Post Offices for a charge of 680 yen per item.

We would like to request your understanding of this situation.
